great scuba diving video from Cozumel, Mexico

Here's a nice video from Cozumel, Mexico showcasing all the underwater and reef animals. Great extended turtle and octopus sequences, barracuda, and an incredibly cute video of a large and small seahorse couple - are the seahorses parent and child, couple or just friends?

scuba diving in the Mexican Riviera - Playa del Carmen

Here's a scuba diving video from the Mexican destination dive site of Playa del Carmen, along the Mayan Riviera in the Quintana Roo region of Mexico. This video takes a couple minutes to get started, then has all the usual suspects like turtles, barracuda and wreck diving. I really wanted to like this video, as visiting Mexico and diving along the northern part of the Caribbean is an attraction to us. But unfortunately, the reef and fish life don't look as spectacular here as we've see in Belize, for example. That said, it still looks like enough adventure for a short dive excursion as part of an overall trip to Mexico - just not enough for a scuba vacation on its own...

travel to southern Mexico on the cheap with colectivos

Here's an interesting look at traveling through southern Mexico cheaply, using shared mini-vans called colectivos. This video is about a visit through the Chiapas region, meeting Mexican villagers and seeing Mayan ruins, trying to go travel as local as possible, including Spanish speaking guides. The video seems to quit about 2:50 in, which is unfortunate; but there are still some good insights here.

Mexico travel video - icons and emotions

Here's the latest promotional video for Mexico tourism, and it is fantastic. First of all, it's quite long at just over 3:30; the quality of the clips are really high, well shot and produced with great colours; finally, the images are quite varied, from history and natural beauty such as pyramids and waterfalls, to the Mexican people and culture. This is a very soft-sell type of promo, with emotional words peppered throughout, rather than web sites addresses or phone numbers to call. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this taste of Mexico.

swimming with dolphins at XelHa in Cozumel, Mexico

Here's an extended look at the XelHa (Xel-Ha) destination in Cozumel, Mexico along the Riviera Maya. Billed as the largest natural aquarium in the world, this video shows the "swimming with dolphins" experience. Although the dolphins do have a natural lagoon to swim in, I'm always torn between educating the public as to the intelligence and curiosity of these creatures versus letting them live their lives in the wild. What do you think?
